Hi folks,

My wife and I have been shopping for a sofa and love seat for over 8 months now. We can't find many that are comfortable and decently priced. The few we find are all made in China and I refuse to buy anything from there.
The chemicals and other quality issues are not worth the price savings.

We live on Long Island. Does ANYONE know of any place here where you can get good quality COMFORTABLE (not too deep and with nice lower back support, leather preferred) sofa and love seat combo for 2K or under?

Please reply to pgiordano@hassel.com

It is now Sunday, November 15, 2009

Thanks,

I definitely hear ya! I think they are absolutely the most cool things.

Duly noted in the "when it's time" file, though ;->

It's not my work, I'm afraid, so I can't take credit for it, but I do agree that it looks great!

There's virtually no way to make *everything* we do green, especially when something as fundamental to our lives as what we do for a living has no real equivalent, but you can still be green by making other choices in your life and home with an eye towards sustainability.

So, you may continue to do your art with oil paints, but when you paint your house or objects in it, switch to one of the new low or no VOC house paints, and do some of the other suggestions.

Have you ever considered learning to work with acrylics, though? I understand that with the newer ones and all the various additives, that they can be made to work very much like oil paints, and the cleanup is a lot less toxic. Or have you tried working with latex/acrylic house paint? The low/no VOC ones may dry too quickly to be able to work them for your needs, though. I know that there are extenders available to make them dry more slowly, but I don't know about toxicity of those.

I love the orange walls Wendy! I am definitely thinking "green" these days! Of course most of may paintings are done in oils, with solvents for cleanup , I guess that is bad, it is my medium though.

Congratulations, Wendy!

As I write this, it's just about Halloween, six weeks following our episode with Ms. Teek.

It would appear that we have collectively put a stake through the heart of this particular vampire, because my Evil Twin has written a goodbye letter to the world on the website of that sponsoring furniture store whose name must not be mentioned.

It's not often one can see such a clear cut result from one's efforts, but I think you can in this episode.

Certainly, and I'd be honored!

But I would appreciate it if you would please not repost any of the posts in their entirety, only a "fair use" snippet, and use the link to bring people here to my blog to read the rest.
